  1. I'm excited to find your blog since I have been looking for John Oderick for a number of years. Family stories used to claim that all Dirlams in the US were descended from two brothers who fought in the American Revolution, A Hetrina search in the early 1990's made it pretty clear that that wasn't true. I can see that you have done an admirable job of searching for John O's ancestry, but we're still at a loss, right? I've been in touch with Rob Dirlam, too, and know he has info about the origins of HIS Dirlam ancestors,, but he's unable to connect the two lines.

Are you a descendant of John Oderick? I am descended from his son Orrin. My cousins Joseph Sunderland and Lorna Morris Spencer Hamblin
published A Dirlam Family History in 1989, which launched my quest for more Dirlam information. Unfortunately I have not progressed (or regressed!) past John Oderick himself. I will be interested in anything new you may post in the future.

  2. Michele,
I'm a 4th great-grandson of Sylvanus Dirlam, as I believe Rob to be also. Sylvanus was Orrin's older brother, so we're distant cousins.

I've heard of this book and I'd be very interested to see a copy. Do you have one?
